Christ wears the crown of thorns, hanging on the cross of martyrdom with his face in the foreground, leaning sideways and with his gaze turned to us, inviting us to watch and experience his Passions. Jesus&#8217; tired body, with the grooves of the rod on his naked flesh, emphasizes his martyrdom.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The composition is dominated by a wide range of dark shades of red and black colors. The only source of light, the white, at the top left of the painting, illuminates Jesus&#8217; body, giving it an even more dramatic tone through intense contrasts of light and shadow, highlighting details such as the ropes tied to his hands, the wood grain in the cross, the crown of thorns and his exhausted face and body from the Passions.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This painting is a typical example of religious art and belongs to the Biblical Circle.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">
