And I beheld and see a black horse; and he that sat on him had a pair of balances in his hand&#8221;. (transfer by G. Seferis).<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is the duty of the Third Horseman to weigh the goods without affecting the oil and the wine, goods which the Christians use in their Sacraments and which must be in abundance. Black symbolizes the spiritual darkness in which faithless live in conditions of famine and poverty.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">By artistic license the horse has become white,
