Marylin Monroe
This painting describes the city of Athens in the future through my eyes, then in 1980.
In the foreground we see the smiling face of Marylin Monroe inviting us to join the “celebration” that unfolds. Behind her are paraded surrealistic birds without legs or with human and bird legs, all symbols of sexual pleasure. In the far right, the color of the feverish and fluid sun enhances the intensity of the painting. To the left is the Acropolis’s sacred rock with the eternal symbol of the city, the Parthenon.
The pink, the light blue, the purple and the existence of Marylin Monroe create a celebration of colors and senses.
